Small School Sports

We take part in Grantham's small school sports every year and please see Mrs Chadwick's PE Blog for photos.

We came second by 1 point!  Allington school - one of A1+ collaborative partnership schools won - and Mrs Barr (the school's head) and myself had a lively debate about it!  If we were to come second to anyone I'm glad it was Allington.

We are so proud of our best ever result that we have bought medals and a cup to celebrate!

So much going on!

This week some Y3's and our Bronze Sport Ambassadors Jess and Amy went to Grantham's Mini Olympics.  See Mrs Chadwick's PE Blog for photos.  I visited them there and they were having a great time!

Thanks to Mrs Jeffery, Mrs Ogden and Mrs Van-Tam, for helping us at the stadium and to the parents who helped us with transport.

We had to represent a country and we were given South Africa.  See our banner below which we believe was a commended!

Celebrations 12.6.2015

We've had a very, very busy week this week - sports day, testing week for Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4s so we haven't got any certificates this week!

Hollie-May and Elise (Y4) and Elspeth (Y1).  All for helping others without being asked.

Brilliant!

Wheelchairs

As part of our whole school commitment to learning about people with disabilities we have purchased (for a termlet) a bank of 10 sports wheelchairs.  All staff and children have had training on how to use them and everyone has had a go - including me - twice!  We will be using these as much as possible over this term and if want to experience a go then please talk to me.

I attended the training session with Class 1 and I was absolutely blown away by the comment from Brooke W in year 1 "It's not about the wheelchairs - it's about the person in the wheelchair" - she perfectly correct and I based my assembly around her comment and we view a YouTube video about Wheelchairs on a skate park - showing what can be done with a wheelchair.  Don't worry - the children will not be doing this!

Angus - a wheelchair user himself - giving us the safety talk

First go - a bit of trepidation!

Concentrating!

Getting more confident

Mrs Richardson - a bit nervous about her nails!

Playing tig!

What a fabulous experience for all children in the school.  Please visit the class blogs and Mrs Chadwicks' sports blog for more pictures.
