Our 'allotment'

We only have a small space for this but our gardening club, run by Mrs Sutcliffe, Mrs Clarke and Mrs Ballaam do a good job in growing food.  We currently have strawberries, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, lettuce and beans on the go.  Our gardening club also plant our borders around the school.  We always needs help and plants - talk to Mrs Sutcliffe if you can help us!

The whole school had a fabulous day last week building our new Woodland Hut.  We worked in teams and everyone had a go at weaving the wood and stripping the wood of barkThe 'hut' is now complete and the children love it!  The next project will be a tunnel - when we've saved up enough money.

Whole school testing week

This week is whole school testing week.  Our aim is to make the week as unstressful as possible for the children, all we want them to do is to try their very best and show us what they have learnt.

Year 5 will be based in class 2 this week.  As well as testing we will take as many opportunities as we can to get outside and do PE (weather permitting!).  Years 3, 4 and 5 also have a mini project to complete on Mini-Beasts.

The Olympic Value for the next fortnight is Excellence: to give one's best, on the field of play or in life.  It is not only about winning but also about participating, making  a commitment to progress against personal goals, striving to be and to do our best in our daily lives.  Perfect for this next week!!!

We are having a major drive on the use of good manners and picking up/not throwing litter.  Both these need work on at the moment. Your child may tell you about our new raffle ticket system - if they haven't - please ask them!

Children's Olympic torch to Allington

On Tuesday Mrs Chadwick and the 3 sports young ambassadors, George Hatton, Ella Burtt and James Walton, passed on the children's Olympic torch to Allington school.  They took with them a 'Friendship Chain' that had been made by Class 3 as part of our work on the Olympic values.  All 3 spoke clearly and loudly and were excellent ambassadors for Marston Thorold's school!
