Celebrations 13.5.2016

What a busy week!  Y6 and Y2 SATs plus testing for Y5's.  Best comment this week from Joseph in Y6 - 'Oh, I forgot it was SATs'.  Proving that we DON'T put the children under undue pressure and rather we encourage them to do their best and 'SHINE'!

I took the whole of KS2 for rounders on Monday afternoon last week and Emma Ross (Matthew and Benji's mum) could hear us cheering and yelling whilst she was hanging her washing out and she lives some way from the school!  We had a fabulous time and the return match is on Wednesday afternoon!
Nathan, Rueben and Jake (all Y5) were awarded a rosette for their team work during the afternoon!  Can't wait for Wednesday!!!

Year 5 for pulling together all week and working very hard without Mrs Chadwick.  They met the challenge I set for them at the beginning of the week.
I am so proud of you and thank you!

Year 6 - for rising to the challenge of their SATs week and 'SHINING'
I am so proud of each and every one of you!!!

Jake (Y4) for meeting his target of improved participation in class discussions, Alex (Y4) for his exemplary spelling folder, Holly (Y6) for being independent in her learning - just in time for secondary school and Nathan (Y5) for greatly improved art work and being independent in this.  Brilliant of all of you!

Reception - Joshua, Jack C, India, Wilfy and Tom - all for good writing about 'The Hungry Caterpillar'.  You could all tell me what The Hungry Caterpillar liked to eat!

A brilliant week which could have been stressful in many ways but wasn't and I am blown away by everyone - children and staff pulling together this testing week.
Thank you!

Some more good work this week - well done everyone!  This goes to those who were awarded a raffle ticket which was entered into our prize draw and didn't win - it's the fact that you got a raffle ticket in the first place which matters!

Luca Y4, for encouraging and supporting others in class; Elise Y5, for excellent work in Geography; Ellen Y5, for super comprehension work and Hollie Y5 for working independently.  All showing that they are ready for Y6!

Easter Basket competition

Our Easter competition this year was to design and a make an Easter basket with the winning entrants being chosen for their own work and (in the upper school) a reference to Jesus.  We had a fabulous amount of entries - most for several years!  It was hard to judge and I particularly didn't want to know who had made each basket so I could judge independently.  Winners received a chocolate rabbit and runners up got a creme egg.  Everyone who took part got a chocolate lolly.

Easter Service in church 22.3.2016

We didn't have much time to prepare a full Easter service because of the very short term so we decided to perform some music that we had been doing in classes along with Easter poems.  It was a lovely, happy service and thank you to the many parents who commented how good it was!

Class 3 - The Easter Tree - a really super story about a tree over the years in Jesus's life

Class 3 with their Hip Hop Samba - we all bopped along to this!

Class 2 - No more sighing, goodbye-ing or crying - a poem about Jesus's resurrection

Class 1 with their lovely Easter acrostic

Recorder group 3 - Edelweiss
Beautiful performance all of you!

Recorder group 2 - excellent!

Recorder group 3 - what skills you have!

More class 3 Hip Hop Samba - really enjoying themselves!

A special thanks to Darcy and Adam in Y6 - I gave them 40 minutes notice that they were presenting the whole service and they did brilliantly!
