Who says Y6s are too old to have fun?  As part of our school improvement plan - improving the outside environment we have our new raised beds ready for filling.  All ages are using them as areas to play in - give a child a toy or a box and they play with the box!

RE Week - The Perfect World

We have had a fabulous week!  As a whole school we created 'The Wheel of Life' - our interpretation of the seven days of creation.  Everyone contributed and the end result is fabulous - even if we say so ourselves!

As part of this special week and our school improvement plans to improve our outside environment we engaged an artist to help us create a clay wall sculpture.  The first stage was making the tiles.  Class 1's theme was 'The Perfect World', Class 2's theme was 'The World we have now' and Class 3's theme was 'The Way Forward'.

To finish the week we held a sharing assembly.  Our assemblies all week have been fabulous - Mrs Sutcliffe's concentrating on food waste and people starving, The Year 5's told us all about pollution, Mrs Kearsley led us in singing songs of creation.

To finish off the celebratory week, Mrs Ballaam was presented with a long service award - saying thank you for working at our school for 20 years!  A big thank you Mrs Ballaam!!!

 

So did the week meet our objectives of raising the children's awareness of The Creation, the problems the world faces, the fact that these problems are caused by us, and to demonstrate all this through visit, visitors, art, dance, music, role play and teamwork?  An outstanding YES!

 

 





 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Tour de SK

Tour de France will start in England this year - in Yorkshire to be precise and our sports partnership Inspire+ have decided to hold a Tour de SK!

Easter Basket Winners

We had some fantastic entries for this years competition - the criteria being the children's own work.  Mrs Chadwick and Mrs Padgett judged the entries - they found it very difficult!  The winners won a chocolate easter bunny, the ones who came second won a chocolate lolly or chocolate coins and everyone who entered got chocolate mini eggs.  A choc fest all round!

Mother's Day Celebration Assembly

On the 28th March we held our annual Mother's Day Celebration in school.   It was a super turnout from mums (and grans and some dads!) and the children were very excited!  We had some 'Momisms' from Class 3 - sayings that all mums say and a Class acrostic plus they also sand 'Lean on Me' - very tear jerking!  Class 1 told us why they loved their mums/nans and they then did 'Hot Potato', a movement based song which everyone loved.  Class 2 sang 'I will be your friend' and said alliterative poems about their mums - we had to get rid of zombies and yetis!  The beginner and intermediate recorder groups played for us - Yellow Submarine and Those were the Days.  The children gave their mums daffodil posies as a gift.  A lovely afternoon all around!

Sport Relief Assembly and Celebrations Assembly Friday 21st March

We had an exciting day today - everyone dressed up as a sportsperson in aid of Sport Relief.  We had a wide range - lots of horse riders, a jockey, a quidditch player, lots of Tae Kwon Do'ers, Kickboxers and boxers, lots of footballers and rugby players, a life saver, a skater, a Canadian Ice Hockey player and too many more to mention!

Our Bronze Sports Young Ambassadors, Amy and Jessamy delivered a whole school assembly on Sport Relief and what the money is raised for.

 

Still on the theme of sport, we presented our winning Netball team with medals.

 

 

Harley, Daniel, Georgie, Veranika, Sophie, Conor, Harry and Chloe.  Smile next time guys!
