Year 5 and 6 (and 2 Y4's) have been taking part in DARE - Drugs, Alcohol and Resistance Education dor the last 10 weeks. This has been delivered by Dare Officer Colin (a retired police officer).
Today was their graduation day and we held an assembly to celebrate this and lots of parents attended. The graduates carried out role plays to explain bullying, peer-pressure, use of alcohol and drugs. Four children read out their DARE reports - Jessamy, Vincent, Conor and Sophie and all four were presented with a calculator by Dare Officer Colin. Special mention for Jessamy and Vincent for their reports being the best. Two other graduates - Jamie and William - were also awarded calculators for their effort (William) and helping others with their reports (Jamie).
The school presented everyone with a certificate, a wristband and a stationery set. The four DARE reports will be put onto the blog as soon as the children give them to me.

Spirited Arts Competition
10 children (with the help of Mrs Ballaam) entered the above competition in July 2013. We entered the 'Windows on the Soul' category and all the children received a certificate for entering. The judges also stated in their feedback: "we loved some of the more unusual entries, including a whole school entry where the village community created a series of stained glass windows" - that was us!!!
Congratulations to all the children who entered and thank you Mrs Ballaam for your hard work!
Gracie, Alice, George, Maddie, Ben, Dean, Annie, Mathilda, Elsie and Sophie.
We will enter again next year as a whole school and we have done a deal that we will try and win!
