16 schools took part in the annual cross country races. Marston Thorold's girls came 8th with Georgie Burns coming 19th and Chloe Tyler 22nd out of 75 girls.  Well done both of you!!!  The other team members were Veranika Bravo, Amelia Peters, Jordan Bean and Chloe Johnson - well done for trying your best for the school!

The boys team came 1st out of 17 schools - for the second year running!  What an achievement - I am so proud of all of you!

Sam Wright came 3rd, Anthony Bravo came 4th and Oliver Howgill 6th.  Also in the team were Isaac Carley, Sam Tattersall, Daniel Tattersall, Matthew Jagger, James Morley and Jay Rogers - well done for supporting the team and representing the school!

The boys team were presented with medals and they had their photo taken for the Grantham Journal so look out for that!

Thank you parents for helping us with transport - without your help this event wouldn't happen.  Likewise, thank you to Mrs Chadwick for all her hard work in organising this and training the team!

House Captains and Vice Captains

Last week was a big week for the Year 6 children.  The week that all the school selected the house and vice captains for their houses.  In preparation for this the Year 6 children had to prepare a speech saying why they should be house (or vice) captains and why people should vote for them.  This was then presented at whole school assembly.

Because we have 17 children in Year 6 this year we had to stress that there would some disappointed children but that there would always be other ways to get involved (school council, office monitors, Class 1 buddies, play leaders, and many more).

Our house captains - chosen by children and staff are: Oliver Howgill, Amelia Peters, Kesri Barber and Matthew Jagger.

Our vice captains are: Anthony Bravo, Pippa Jessop, Maddy Faulkner and Sam Wright.

Here's to another good year for all the groups!

Bikeability

Year 5 (and some Y6) children took part in the annual Bikeability programme last week.  Bikeability is the old cycling proficiency test.  They took two full days on the programme and all achieved level one with some achieving level two - Oliver, Daniel, Sam, Isaac.  They had to demonstrate their cycling safety on the road - a bit of a challenge on our village road with all the tractors and HGVs!

All the Bikeability group - level 1 and level 2

The level 2 Bikeability group - well done boys!

More creative writing from Class 3

Class 3 are working on Jacqueline Wilson's book 'Double Trouble' and they have had to write a diary entry.

Tommy Elce wrote:

Dear diary, Today Ruby embarrassed me in front of the whole school said she was the DOMINANT twin!  Luckily I won the gold award this week but Ruby shouted out 'Baby', I was so upset (of course Ruby didn't care though).  Ruby is the most horrible oerson on earth.  If she wasn't my sister I would not like her.  At playtime I was playing hopscotch, Ruby chucked a rock and it barely missed my head.  Little did I know it was the end of the day, I sighed in relief.

James Morley wrote:

Dear mum, Today Ruby was showing off again and she went red when we did drama and she got all her lines wrong.  But again she teased me over and over again.  I got my revenge by taking her lunch box!!  All morning she was looking for it and I threw it in the bin!  That will teach her and those tricks.  Thanks for the day, bye.

PS I love you mum.

Both boys worked really hard on these pieces of work - well done Tommy and James for trying your best and rising the Mrs Chadwick's challenge!
